Shock absorber assembly
· Check operation and shock absorber for oil leakage. · Check the air cut-off valve, reed valve, and hose for damage. Measure the spark plug gap with a wire thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjust the gap to specification.
1. Check that the porcelain insulator around the center electrode of the spark plug is a medium-to-light tan (the ideal color when the vehicle is ridden normally).

NOTE: If a torque wrench is not available when installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the correct torque is 1/41/2 turn past finger tight. However, the spark plug should be tightened to the specified torque as soon as possible. Install the panel.
Engine oil
The engine oil level should be checked before each ride. In addition, the oil must be changed at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. The engine oil must also be changed at the initial 1000 km (600 mi) and when the oil change indicator color changes from green to red. The oil change indicator must be reset after the initial 1000 km (600 mi). NOTE: Make sure that the vehicle is positioned straight up when checking the oil level. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off.
1. Spark plug gap
Spark plug gap: 0. 70. 8 mm (0. 0280. 031 in)

2. Clean the surface of the spark plug gasket and its mating surface, and then wipe off any grime from the spark plug threads. [. . . ] Lubricate all control cables and the pivoting points of all levers and pedals as well as of the sidestand/centerstand. Check and, if necessary, correct the tire air pressure, and then lift the scooter so that both of its wheels are off the ground. Alternatively, turn the wheels a little every month in order to prevent the tires from becoming degraded in one spot. Cover the muffler outlet with a plastic bag to prevent moisture from entering it.
