[. . . ] Agentless inventory tasks use connection profiles to manage the protocols that are used to communicate with network devices. Connection profiles are a component of the Symantec Management Platform. When devices are discovered, the protocols used to communicate with the device are stored in the resource for that device in the CMDB. When using agentless inventory tasks, you do not specify a connection profile or protocols. Rather, agentless inventory tasks use the same protocols that were enabled when the device was discovered. Gathering agentless inventory You can gather inventory data of discovered network devices and enter that data in the CMDB. This process guides you through the steps to discover network devices. In the wizard, select whether to inventory a group of devices or an individual device. To inventory a group of devices, do the following: Click Choose devices. Select the group of target devices you want to inventory from the drop-down menu. You use the organizational views feature of Notification Server to filter the target devices you want to inventory.
