Enter phone number and confirm. Speed dial: Enter the digit of the required speed dial key (29), then enter the name and confirm. Long press (back to idle status).

Answering machine in the base of the Gigaset A245
The answering machine is operated from the handset. The recording time cannot be displayed until you have set the date and time (see the Menu Tree, page 11).

Activating/deactivating the answering machine
Your answering machine is activated and ready for use as soon as your handset has been set up. Until you have recorded your own personal announcement, the stored pre-recorded announcement will be used.

Calls/answering machine list/network mailbox list
Press the display key Û to open the calls list, answering machine list and network mailbox list (see Menu Tree, page 11). When the phone is in idle status, new missed calls are indicated by a flashing Û . Example of how the calls list appears:

Opening the calls list and selecting an entry
You can view entries you have already read.
You hear a recording prompt and then the ready tone (short beep). Press OK to confirm or a to reject your recording.

Recording is automatically terminated: If you exceed the maximum recording time of 170 s. If you pause for more than 2 seconds while recording.

Taking a call from the answering machine
While the answering machine is recording a message (flashing ×) you can answer the call by pressing the talk key c. Recording stops and you can speak to the caller.
Play back the announcement Confirm the prompt. The prerecorded announcement is active again.
Playing/deleting messages
New messages are indicated in the display by a flashing message icon Û . [. . . ] 3 Pat all parts dry, then place the handset with the battery compartment open and the keypad facing down in a dry, warm place for at least 72 hours (not in a microwave, oven etc. ). When it has fully dried out you will normally be able to use it again.
