Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the Roland Percussion Sound Module TD-3.
Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: "USING THE UNIT SAFELY" (p. These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, Owner's manual should be read in its entirety. The manual should be saved and kept on hand as a convenient reference.

Playing with a CD, Tape, or MD
(Via MIX IN Jack)
The TD-3's MIX IN jack allows you to play along with a variety of external audio sources. Make connections as shown in the following figure.

MIX IN jack
TD-3 To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other devices, always turn down the volume, and turn off the power on all devices before making any connections. When you begin playback of the audio source, the sound is output through the OUTPUT jacks and the PHONES jack of the TD-3. Adjust the volume level of the playback device in balance with the drum kit, and then set your volume levels for headphones or monitor speakers. Now you are ready to play drums along with what's coming through the MIX IN jack.

COACH Mode
The TD-3's Coach mode is a unique set of exercises specifically designed to help build speed, accuracy and stamina, as well as develop better timing skills. Throughout the Coach modes, you will discover that some of them have programmable parameters, allowing you to adapt the functions to your specific needs.

You can hold down [COACH] and press [-] to select parameters in the reverse order of that when only [COACH] is pressed. Selecting the Coach mode while the Metronome is working stops the metronome. In Coach mode, you can press [TEMPO] to change the tempo before pressing [CLICK] to start the exercise. Adjust the tempo using [+] or [-].

COACH Mode
Accuracy and Timing Exercises
Warm Up (Rhythmic Notes)
Rhythmic Notes is an excellent warm up exercise as well as a good method for learning rhythmic note values. After a two measure count-in, the metronome plays through a series of note intervals or beat divisions. Each one is played for 2 measures before moving on to the next interval level. The exercise starts with half notes, stepping up through intervals to 16th-note triplets, and then back down to half notes again. In the Coach mode, press [COACH] until " Press [+] or [-] to select the variation. 4.
