" Setting 415. 3 Hz­440. 0 Hz--466. 2 Hz Key When playing in a temperament other than equal temperament, you must specify the tonic (the note corresponding to C for a major key, or to A for a minor key) of the key in which you will play. If you have selected equal temperament, it is not necessary to select the tonic. Setting C, C#, D, Eb, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B Stretch Tuning Pianos are generally tuned so that the low range is flatter and the high range is sharper than equal tempered pitches. This method of tuning is unique to the piano, and is known as "stretched tuning. " Setting On This tuning curve expands the low range and high range. It is suitable when playing in an ensemble with other instruments. Playing back the performance of a specific instrument (16 Track) Commercially available SMF music files normally consists of 16 parts, and the performance of a different instrument is recorded on each part. Of these 16 parts, you can select and play (solo) a specific part, or mute (silence) a selected part. (Muting just one specific part of the playback is referred to as "minus-one. By playing in the temperament that was in use when a composition was created, you can experience the sonorities of chords originally intended for that song. Setting Equal This temperament divides the octave into 12 equal parts. It is unsuitable for playing melodies and modulation is not possible, but it produces beautifully harmonious chords. Kirnberger This temperament is a modification of meantone temperament and just intonation, allowing more freedom of modulation.
