Glossary of Terms
"Tones" are the sounds you will normally play on the CM-32L. If we use the analogy of an orchestra, a "tone" corresponds to an instrument held by a musician. 10)

MIDI Parameters
For details on how to set these parameters, refer to "Setting a Function Menu Parameter" (p. 22).
MIDI parameters other than "Local" are saved as soon as you press [FUNCTION] and turn off its LED. Parameter Local Value OFF, ON (default: ON) Explanation If the data generated when you play the keyboard is sent to the sound generator via two routes (1) and (2) as shown in the diagram, the notes will overlap or be cut off. To prevent this, you should turn "Local Off" to break route (1). Choose the "OFF" setting if you've connected the CM-32L to a sequencer.

* The setting of this parameter is cleared when you switch off the CM-32L's power. ALL: All parts KBD: Only the keyboard parts (Main, Dual, Split, Auto Bass) STL: Only the arranger parts (Backing 16, Backing bass, Backing drums) SNG: Only the song parts (116) OFF: None of the CM-32L's parts will transmit or receive MIDI messages. Specifies whether or not the CM-32L will synchronize to an external MIDI device. You can use synchronization when the MIDI OUT connector of an external device is connected to the CM-32L's MIDI IN connector. (If you've connected the IN and OUT connectors in the opposite direction, refer to the owner's manual of the external device you've connected. ) OFF: The CM-32L will not synchronize with the other MIDI device. Use a separately available MIDI cable to connect the CM-32L's MIDI IN connector to the MIDI OUT of your external MIDI sequencer. Transmit the bulk data from your external MIDI sequencer to the CM-32L.

Other Functions
Transpose Lock
Hold down [NUMERIC] and press [TRANSPOSE]. Once locked this way, the set transposition will remain in effect no matter what you do on the instrument. * To release the lock, once again hold down [NUMERIC] and press [TRANSPOSE].
Tempo Lock
Hold down [NUMERIC] and press [MELODY INTELLIGENCE]. Once locked this way, the set tempo will remain in effect no matter what you do on the instrument. * To release the lock, once again hold down [NUMERIC] and press [MELODY INTELLIGENCE].
Style Lock
Hold down [NUMERIC] and press [SPLIT]. Thereafter, the style setting will be preserved even if you switch music assistants or user programs. * To release the lock, once again hold down [NUMERIC] and press [SPLIT].
Tone Lock
Hold down [NUMERIC] and press [DUAL]. Thereafter, the tone setting will be preserved even if you switch music assistants or user programs. * To release the lock, once again hold down [NUMERIC] and press [DUAL].
To determine whether a function is locked or not, hold down [NUMERIC] and note the buttons that are lighted (lit = locked).
