GM Control Parameters
PC2s with the Version 3 operating system and the PCR-1 option support General MIDI 1 (GM). Note: For GM files to play correctly, the GM program set must be present in the PC2--it can be in either ROM (Bank 2, Exp1) or in RAM (Bank 1, User), but it has to be present.

PCR-1 User's Guide PC2 Version 3 Operating System Features
The parameters that control the PC2's GM functions are in the Global menu. There are three of them: General MIDI, GM Bank, and GM FX Scale.
General MIDI Use this parameter to turn GM mode on and off. Set the value to On to activate GM mode; set the value to Off to return to normal operation. [. . . ] On keyboard models, press Sound Select 14 and Sound Select 16 at the same time; on rack-mount models, press the MIDI Receive and Global buttons at the same time. The top line of the display shows DEMO: followed by the ID and name of the currently selected demo song.

2. Use the Alpha Wheel or the Minus or Plus button to select the demo to play. Press Enter to play the current song, or Cancel to return to a performance mode. The IDs of the demo sequences correspond to the banks where they're stored:

Loading Demos into RAM You can load PC2 demo songs into RAM by playing them with a sequencer that's connected to the PC2. When you play these files with your sequencer, the PC2 recognizes the SysEx data and loads the songs into RAM.
The procedure for loading demos into RAM is similar to that for loading program/setup files into RAM. For details, see Loading Program/Setup Files Into RAM below On the CD, the demo files are in the folder (directory) called base_demo or pcr1_demo, which is in the folder called ram.
Deleting and Dumping Demos You can delete demo songs to gain RAM space, and you can dump them to files via SysEx so that you can load them again at a later time without having to use the CD.
Note: The PC2 allows you to select ROM demos and execute the delete function as if you were really deleting the ROM demos. You can actually delete only those demos that you've loaded in RAM. On keyboard models, press Sound Select 14 and Sound Select 16 at the same time; on rack-mount models, press the MIDI Receive and

Global buttons at the same time. The top line of the display shows DEMO: followed by the ID and name of the currently selected demo song. Use the Alpha Wheel or the Minus or Plus button to select the desired demo. If you're going to dump the demo, make sure you have a MIDI connection between the MIDI Out of the PC2 and the MIDI In of the receiving device. Press Store (on keyboard models) or Edit/Store (on rack-mount models). The PC2's display asks you if you want to delete the current demo. If you decide not to delete the demo, press Cancel instead of Enter; this returns you to Demo mode. On keyboard models, the LED in the MIDI Xmit button lights to indicate the data flow. prompt.
Using Sound Categories (PC2R only)
The PC2R doesn't have the Sound Select buttons that are featured on the keyboard models, but you can still make use of the sound categories. This selects the first program in the category, and returns the display to normal. The length of the list of categories depends on which set of programs you've installed in ROM/loaded in RAM. When you install/load the GM set, 16 new categories appear in a continuous block immediately before the User category

(which is near the end of the list). When you install/load the Orchestral set, 16 new categories are inserted at different points within the list of Internal categories. Unlike the GM categories, the orchestral categories aren't just inserted in a continuous block; they're organized so that they're listed with similar categories (for example, all the non-GM string categories appear next to each other in the list).

PCR-1 Orchestral Setup Information
The following tables include descriptions of the program and controller assignments for each zone in the PCR-1 option's 32 setups. Each table lists 24 setup features (zone status, MIDI channel, program assignment, and several controller assignments), and shows how these features are used in each of the setup's four zones. Certain physical controllers on the keyboard and rack-mount models have corresponding assignments but different names--for example, Slider A and Green Knob A. In these cases, the keyboard names are followed by the rack-mount names. [. . . ]
