Installation Manual
Please read the entire manual before installing this in-ground pet fencing system.
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this INNOTEK® UltraSmart® In-ground Pet Fencing System. This electronic dog fencing system is among the safest, most humane, and effective training products you can buy. Used properly, the collar receiver's electronic stimulation serves as an annoying sensation that your dog finds undesirable. Your dog quickly learns to shut off the stimulation by staying away from the fencing boundary. Once your dog is properly trained, he will enjoy hours of freedom within his new boundaries, and you will enjoy the comfort of knowing that he has learned to stay safely in your yard. [. . . ] If your system is not used for an extended period of time, charge the collar receiver every 2 to 3 months. Keep the collar receiver top away from the charging cradle's magnet.
ReadyTestTM feature
When you remove the collar from the charging cradle, the unit will automatically go into self-test mode for about 5 seconds. The collar's internal diagnostics will check that the battery charge is full and that all circuits are working correctly. ReadyTest gives you added confidence that your pet fencing collar is working and ready to go.
Ready FitTM test
When you remove the collar from the charger, the system will run through ReadyTest for about 5 seconds as described above, and then enter Ready Fit mode (blinking amber light on the collar receiver). You have approximately 90 seconds to fit the collar to your dog (described in Step 8). As the unit detects skin contact with your dog's neck, it makes a quiet but audible click. After 5 consecutive clicks, you have positive confirmation of correct fit.

Bury Boundary Wire

Fitting the Collar on Your Dog
The collar strap should fit snugly towards the top of your dog's neck with the collar receiver box on the bottom of the neck. You should be able to get one finger between the collar strap and your dog's neck. The contact points must touch the dog's skin for proper operation. Never shave hair from the dog's neck.
You may need a straight-edge spade or a gas-powered edger for efficient installation. If your plan includes running the boundary wire across a driveway, you may also need a caulk gun, silicone caulking, and a circular saw with a masonry blade.
Ensure system is turned off
Set the transmitter's power switch to the OFF position and unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet (or LP-4100).
Bury the wire
Make a trench 1" to 3" deep with a flat edge spade or gaspowered edger. A 30 to 45 degree angle cut will be the easiest to close and keep the wire in the trench. Make sure there is a little slack in the wire as you bury it to compensate for expansion and contraction due to temperature changes.
Crossing Driveways, Sidewalks, or Water
Concrete: Place the boundary wire in an expansion joint, or create a groove using a circular saw with a masonry blade. Asphalt: When crossing an asphalt driveway, make a ½" to 1" deep cut across the driveway using the circular saw with a masonry blade. Gravel/Dirt Driveway: Make a trench and place the boundary wire in PVC pipe or a section of garden hose to protect the boundary wire. Water Features: When routing the boundary wire through water, use PVC pipe or a length of garden hose to protect the wire. Anchor the pipe or hose to the bottom with large rocks.

Train Your Dog
Watch the included training DVD and follow the training steps outlined in the separate Training & Troubleshooting Guide. Your dog may respond immediately to the training, however, continue to follow the training instructions to fully train your dog. The convenience that your new in-ground pet fence offers, plus the added safety for your dog, are well worth the time invested.

Indicator Lights
Place training flags
Repeat Testing the Fence Boundary, outlined in Step 6. As soon as you hear the warning tone, place one marker flag at that spot (inside the boundary field). The flags will be your dog's visual clue to the boundary during training, and will be removed during the training process. You are now ready to begin training your dog.
The tables on the back cover provide handy references for checking the status of the system and troubleshooting the transmitter and the collar receiver. [. . . ] This 3-sided layout is very useful for properties that have an existing boundary on one side. This particular layout is used for keeping the dog in the back yard and keeping the dog out of two "Keep Out" areas, the Rose Bush area and the pool. This layout includes an existing privacy fence along the back property line. From outside the wall where the Transmitter is installed, run twisted wires to the Transmitter. [. . . ]
