Installing a new operating system Before you install the operating system see the Installing a new operating system section of Access Help, and make sure that you do the following: v Print the sections of Access Help you will be using. v Copy all the subdirectories and files in the C:\IBMTOOLS or the C:\SWTOOLS directory to a removable storage device, because you will need them during the installation. Installing Windows XP If you are installing Windows XP Service Pack 1 on a computer with a dual-core processor, disable Core Multi-Processing before starting the installation as follows: 1. To install Windows XP and its related software on your computer, do as follows: Before installing the operating system, install Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Driver, as follows: Note Be sure to install Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver before installing the operating system. Otherwise your computer will not respond; it will only display a blue screen. Copy Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver from C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\IMSM or C:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\IMSM to a diskette.
