[. . . ] If the port cannot maintain this status, (for example if the port is forced to halfduplex operation) the p2p status changes to operate as if the p2p value were False. When Enabled, it allows the forwarding of STP BPDU packets from other network devices. Use the pull-down menu to enable or disable the loop-back detection function on the Switch for the ports configured above. For more information on this function, see the STP LoopBack Prevention section. If TRUE causes the Port not to be selected as Root Port for the CIST or any MSTI, even it has the best spanning tree priority vector. Such a Port will be selected as an Alternate Port after the Root Port has been selected. It is set by a network administrator to prevent bridges external to a core region of the network influencing the spanning tree active topology, possibly because those bridges are not under the full control of the administrator. If TRUE causes the Port not to propagate received topology change notifications and topology changes to other Ports. If set it can cause temporary loss of connectivity after changes in a spanning trees active topology as a result of persistent incorrectly learned station location information. It is set by a network administrator to prevent bridges external to a core region of the network, causing address flushing in that region, possibly because those bridges are not under the full control of the administrator or MAC_Operational for the attached LANs transitions frequently.

MST Configuration Identification
The following windows in the MST Configuration Identification section allow the user to configure a MSTI instance on the Switch. These settings will uniquely identify a multiple spanning tree instance set on the Switch. The Switch initially possesses one CIST or Common Internal Spanning Tree of which the user may modify the parameters for but cannot change the MSTI ID for, and cannot be deleted. To view the MST Configuration Identification window, click L2 Features > Spanning Tree > MST Configuration Identification.
Figure 7- 38. MST Configuration Identification window The window above contains the following information: Parameter Configuration Name Description A previously configured name set on the Switch to uniquely identify the MSTI (Multiple Spanning Tree Instance). If a configuration name is not set, this field will show the MAC address to the device running MSTP. This value, along with the Configuration Name will identify the MSTP region configured on the Switch. The user may choose a value between 0 and 65535 with a default setting of 0. This field will always have the CIST MSTI, which may be configured but not deleted. Clicking the hyperlinked name will open a new window for configuring parameters associated with that particular MSTI. This field displays the VLAN IDs associated with the specific MSTI.
