TEMS Visualization has revolutionized the optimization of WCDMA and GSM networks. It post-processes event-based data generated by the Ericsson infrastructure, analyzing and organizing it for troubleshooting, monitoring, and verifying network functionality.
Lookingatindividualcalldatafromtheinfrastructuresidebridgesthe gapbetweenperformancemanagementsystemsanddrivetesting. While performance management tools provide masses of data, and drive-test toolscapturethinslicesofnetworktraffic, TEMSVisualizationderivesdetailedinformationfromlargevolumesofdata. Thisrecentlydeveloped, Enterprise-gradesolutiongivesRFengineers themosteffectivewaytotroubleshootandoptimizeWCDMAnetworks. [. . . ] Congestioncanpushtraffictonon-optimalcells, installationproblemscan resultinswappedfeedersorovershootingcells, real-lifecoveragecandiffer from predictions, and equipment can fail. Capacity Diagnostics and RF Diagnosticshighlightcellswiththeseissuesandsearchfortherootcauses. Capacity Diagnosticsidentifycellswithresourceissues, andpeakusagestatisticsforkeyresourcetypesarecalculated. Problemcellscanthen be examined in detail with high-resolution charts showing the usage of resourcessuchaschannelelements, power, andactiveHSusers. RF DiagnosticsautomaticallyhighlightcellswithRFissues. Analysis ofMeasurementReportsidentifiescellswithissuessuchasoutofcoverage, high DL interference, high UL interference, or UL/DL imbalance. Further analysisidentifiesthepotentialcausesoftheseissues, suchasmissingIRAT/ IFHOhandovers, ULpathlosses, overshootingcells, orPilotPollution. The MRR-WfeatureintheEricssonOSS-RCisrequired. Optimization Decision Support Neighbor Optimizationmakesitpossibletoeasilyverifytheneighbor plan(crucialfornetworkperformance)andfindbothmissingneighborsand non-utilized existing neighbors in a WCDMA network. Missing Neighbor statistics, asreportedbyactualusers, existingneighborusage, andPilot Pollutionstatisticsarepresented. Per-IMSIstatisticsallowclassificationof missingneighborsasUEornetworkissues. Thisinformationislinkedtothe mapviewforeasyanalysis. ChangescanbemadeandsavedtoaBulkCM formatfileforimportintotheOSS-RC. Coverage Area Optimizationallowsovershootingcellstobequickly identifiedanddown-tiltsadjusted. Analgorithmcalculatesanovershooting distanceforeachcell. Duringprocessing, statisticsarecalculatedforthe numberofovershootingcallsandthenumberofcallsestablishedinpoor quality. Detailedinvestigationofthecallsestablishedineachdistanceband andthequalityofthosecallscanalsobeshowninchartsandonthemap.

Detailed Investigations ExceptionAnalysissummarizesallGPEHmessagesrecordedforthe selected scope and all the TEMS Visualization events generated. For selected GPEH messages, users can drill down even further and count the occurrencesofdifferentRABtypesandcausevalues. Thereisnomoreeffectivewaytofindtherootcausesofnetworkproblems. Callscontaining theselectedeventscanthenbesenttoCallAnalysis. Call Analysisallowsdrill-downtotheindividualcalllevel. CallshighlightedinanyfeaturecanbesenttoCallAnalysisforin-depthexamination. Sequencesofsignalingmessagesareshown, andthereasonsbehindproblemssuchasblockedanddroppedcallscanbeinvestigatedingreatdetail. Users can follow radio measurements per call, view detailed content for individualmessages, retrievedistanceandqualityinformation, andanalyze largegroupsofcallscanbeanalyzedforpatterns. Thisextremelypowerful featurecan, forexample, quicklydetermineifalldroppedcallsinacellare generatedbythesameuseroronthesameRABtype. Geo-location of selected eventsisbasedonmeasurementsmadeby themobileandreportedtotheRNC. Areaswhereseveralcellsareinvolved inoverlappingcoveragearegeo-locatedonthemap, allowingengineersto determineif: CellsareprovidingcoverageinunwantedareasandcausingPilot Pollution. Wantedcellcoveragewillstillbegoodif, forexample, thepollutingcells aredown-tilted. In addition, dropped calls can be geo-located, with the number of droppedcallsineach100mx100mbindisplayedonthemap. Clickingon abinpresentsdetailsforthedropsinthatbinandallowsfurtherdrill-down.
